"Do you know the way to San Jose? la la la la la la la la la..." Burt Bacharach. That's what I heard as they droned the needle into my arm. Not the drugs! The ink! I got one of my arms finished this past week. Then the Shangri-Las and Elvis. Ending with Gorillaz and Beastie Boys. Isn't it interesting how clearly you remember the music playing in the background when you're under the gun? I thought I was mellowing with age, but this is ridiculous! No really, there was something comforting in hearing Marilyn McCoo's one less egg to fry as the inside of my elbow was being carved.

So how was that Asian Cine Vision Festival for ya? I wish I had been able to see more of the films. I saw the movie "Flip Side," which had ended the festival, and had sparked some interesting controversy. Giselle Toengi's beautiful, but what the hell was she doing up there doing the intro for the film, when she couldn't even string 2 words together? I had also hoped there would be an intro for "Anino," which had preceded the film, as I was curious to know more about this film that had won the Palme D'Or for Best Short Film at Cannes 2000. But I don't have a true overall picture of the festival, as I did not view as much of the films as I'd hoped, and knew too of the hard work friends of mine had put in for the entire orchestration of the events. I was thankful that they asked me to host BlackSonny & PIC's performances at Parkside Lounge in the L.E.S., they were great! I'm surprised I had energy left from the BG Benefit Party the night before!

I saw "The Others" tonight. EXCELLENT movie.
