So inq.7’s GlobalNation finally printed that article about me, check it out: www.inq7.net/gbl/2002/oct/25/gbl_3-1.htm

The following is some info on mobilizations happening for this weekend’s anti-war rallies in DC, as well as a report on a recent hate crime murder that happened at North Carolina State University. Can you believe that officials have done nothing about this?

Also, there is an event listing for a neo-nazi metal rock event in Queens this weekend. Yes, Queens. Our backyard. Why am I not surprised? I list the event not so you can sieg heil, but to show your yellow, brown, and black asses at the event and make your presence known, and perhaps scare off some white power losers in the process.

On a separate note, I visited NYC’s Party City to see if they removed that whack Kung Fool costume; they had done so. They also have a printed roll-out display hanging on the wall of the various available costumes. Under the “Humor” category, there was a strategically placed flyer listing discounts in the store. I pulled it back, and sure enough it was the Kung Fool listing.

STOP THE WAR ON IRAQ BEFORE IT STARTS!
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2002, NATIONAL MARCH ON WASHINGTON DC with a joint action in San Francisco

The Bush administration is rushing towards war. The time to act is now. The people of the United States can stop this madness.

World public opinion and almost every government opposes Bush's planned war of aggression. But it will take a mass peoples' movement--in the streets, workplaces, communities, campuses and high schools--to stop the coming war.

On Saturday, October 26, 2002 -- the first anniversary of the signing of the so-called Patriot Act -- anti-war, civil rights, labor, student and other forces are joining together to launch a massive international mobilization in opposition to a new war against the people of Iraq. Mass marches and rallies will be held in Washington DC and San Francisco in the U.S., and in many other countries.

As the Bush administration violates international law it has been systematically engaged in a campaign of division and repression in the United States including a wholesale assault on the Bill of Rights, institutionalization of racial profiling, and aggregation of near dictatorial powers to the Executive branch.

In articulating the so-called doctrine of preemptive war, the Bush administration is preparing to violate all existing international law and the UN charter, which forbids countries to carry out war except in the case of self-defense. Preemption is merely a slogan to justify a foreign policy of armed aggression and military adventure.

Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and company are planning to send tens of thousands of young GIs to kill and be killed in another war for Big Oil. Simultaneously, the Bush Administration is diverting billions of dollars to feed military conquest and away from jobs, education, healthcare, childcare and housing.

The so-called debate that is opening now to public view from within the political establishment presents a necessity for all anti-war forces to become a major factor in generating an authentic opposition to U.S. war plans in the Middle East. The October 26 National March in Washington DC and joint action in San Francisco come just one week before midterm Congressional elections.

There won't be a real national debate on a planned invasion of Iraq until the people are in the streets. We can't leave it to the military establishment to decide when and how they will go to war and to define the debate. We must tell Bush and his corporate and Big Oil patrons that we will not allow this to happen.

This war can be stopped. Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Wolfowitz and company can be stopped. But the essential element must be the mobilization of a massive new anti-war movement in the streets. We call for civilians and soldiers alike to exercise their political right to speak out against an illegal war. On October 26, there will be a National March in Washington DC, a West Coast march in San Francisco, and protests around the world.

ONLY THE PEOPLE CAN STOP THE WAR! JOIN US ON OCTOBER 26, 2002!

************************************

WHEN: Sunday, October 27, 2002 1:30p.m.

WHAT: BEHIND THE SECOND FRONT: THE WAR ON TERRORISM IN THE PHILIPPINES - Film screening of "Basilan: Siklab ng Digma (Spark of War)".

WHERE: George Washington University, Marvin Center 800 21st Street, NW 3rd Floor, Continental Ballroom (21st & H Streets, NW - 2 blocks from the Foggy Bottom-GWU stop on the Orange/Blue line Metro)

Produced by Kodao Productions, an alternative audio-visual group based in the Philippines, "Siklab ng Digma" focuses on Basilan and the effects of the presence on the island of at least 8,000 members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and, later, U.S. troops. Presenting the issue from the point of view of the residents of Basilan, the film does what the government has failed to do: listen to the voices of the people.

In February of this year, US military troops began arriving in the southern Philippine island-province of Basilan, ostensibly for routine joint military exercises with the Philippine military. Basilan, which has also been called the second front in the U.S.'s war on terrorism, is the site of intensified military operations against the Abu Sayaff. The exercises ended amidst allegations of human rights violations. But with the Philippine government declaring it a success, a second wave of joint US-Philippine military exercises have recently been launched on the central island of Luzon.

Featuring, guest speaker Malcolm Guy, president of the Montreal-based Centre for Philippine Concerns and longtime Philippines solidarity activist.

This event is free but donations are welcome.

A graduate of rice murdered an Asian American woman last week because she refused his unwelcome advances-and because apparently, he had a fetish for Asian women-

It's a big issue on campus- where APA women here are definitely fetishized and exoticized..and now we see the worst-case scenario.

so far, police have not closed the investigation, but they haven't classified it as a hate crime. can you please tell people you know about this, and go sign the petition to classify the crime as a bias-related incident?

We need to act on this quickly, while the investigation into this murder is still open. Please sign the below petition at

http://www.petitiononline.com/nchate/petition.html

Lili Wang, a 31-year-old Chinese American computer science graduate student at North Carolina State University, was murdered on October 12, 2002 by Richard Borrelli Anderson, a white classmate who is reported to have become infatuated with her. Wang was already married (to another Chinese American), but this fact did nothing to deter Anderson's unwelcome advances, which appear to have been racially motivated.

According to press reports, Anderson had confided to a colleague that he liked Asian women because "they study hard, and they're very nice, soft speaking."

Press reports indicate that Wang personally did nothing to cause Anderson to select her as a target for unwelcome advances leading to murder, other than being an Asian American woman who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Wang's murder therefore raises justifiable fears among Asian American women, who often experience intersectional race and gender discrimination in the form of being targeted by race for unwelcome advances.

Read more information about the case at:
http://modelminority.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=181

The classification of Wang's murder as a hate crime cannot lead to an enhancement of criminal penalties, because the perpetrator Anderson has already committed suicide. Such classification will, however, advance the goals of hate crimes laws by responding as a society to a crime that has as its foreseeable effect the intimidation of women throughout the Asian American community, and by raising awareness of the intersectional nature of discrimination against Asian American women.

This is a petition to request that law enforcement agencies in North Carolina, including the Raleigh Police Department and the North Carolina Attorney General's office:

(1) to open a formal investigation into whether Robert Anderson's selection of Lili Wang for a course of criminal conduct that began with unwelcome advances and ended with murder, was at least in part attributable to the specific combination of her race and gender; and
(2) in the event that such investigation finds in the affirmative, to report the murder of Lili Wang as a hate crime pursuant to the Federal Hate Crimes Reporting Act, 28 U.S.C. § 534.

On Friday, October 25th, several neo-nazi heavy metal bands are scheduled to play at a club called Issues in Ridgewood, Queens. These bands recruit membership for white supremacist hate groups like the National Alliance who run a campaign of terror against Jews, blacks, Asians, South Asians, immigrants, queers and anyone else who does not fit what they consider to be an Aryan ideal. Please call this club to tell them that this will not be tolerated in New York's most diverse borough where tolerance and peace--not hate--should be practiced.

Call 718-497-3434, ask for Paula (the manager) or ask to speak for the owner.

If Issues allows these bands to play, the community will organize a demonstration in front of the club. Information copied below is from a neo-nazi online bulletin board, advertising the show. "NSBM" stands for National Socialist Black Metal. "1488" is a coded neo-fascist greeting equivalent to "Heil Hitler."
